It's almost time to say good bye to this old man. Jax has helped raise so many of our fur babies at the office during his 12 years that he will be so missed. Jax has cancer in his lower jaw. We are about 9 weeks into a very agressive cancer that nothing can be done for it. We are keeping him comfortable and loved and well fed with whatever he wants. We are greatful for each day we have.

For those folks that work at Millipore and were paid overtime. The premium overtime reported on the W2 (at least for the 5 or 6 I have seen) is incorrect. Please make sure you provide your last paystub for 2025 so we can accurately calculate the non-taxable portion of said overtime.

Concord, N.H. – New Hampshire Secretary of State David Scanlan is alerting business owners to misleading third-party solicitations offering to file 2026 Annual Reports for a fee.

These solicitations often resemble official government forms or notices, but they are not issued, approved, or endorsed by the New Hampshire Secretary of State’s Office. Instead, they are advertisements from private companies seeking to charge businesses unnecessary fees.

Secretary Scanlan urges business owners to read these solicitations carefully. Reports indicate that some third-party vendors charge substantially more than the statutory filing fee or may direct you to file a report when no annual report is due.

New Hampshire businesses can file their Annual Reports directly with the Secretary of State’s Office using NH QuickStart, the State’s official online business filing system. NH QuickStart provides the most secure, convenient, and cost-effective method to file—without the need to hire a third-party service provider.

The 2026 Annual Report filing period began January 1, 2026, and ends April 1, 2026 for New Hampshire LLCs and corporations formed before December 1, 2025.

Secretary Scanlan also encourages business owners to be cautious of any solicitation—by mail or online—that requests sensitive personal or financial information. Before engaging a private vendor for non-government services, businesses should verify that the company is properly registered to do business in New Hampshire and understand that such services are optional.

Businesses with questions or concerns may contact the Corporations Division at (603) 271-3246 for assistance or visit NH QuickStart to file your 2026 Annual Report.

Paper Checks Are on the Way Out

The IRS is phasing out most paper refund checks after Sept. 30, 2025, as part of a broader transition to electronic transactions. The change applies to 2025 tax returns filed in 2026. Taxpayers who do not provide direct deposit information may experience refund delays and receive an IRS request to update banking details within 30 days. Fourth quarter estimated payments are due Jan. 15, 2026. Taxpayers can choose from several electronic payment options, including IRS Direct Pay, IRS Online Account payments, EFTPS and electronic funds withdrawal when filing electronically. Debit card, credit card and digital wallet payments are also available, though fees may apply. Although electronic payments are strongly encouraged, the IRS will still accept paper checks.

Upcoming Regulations for Trump Accounts

The IRS released Notice 2025-68, outlining upcoming regulations for the new Trump Accounts created under OBBBA. The accounts will function as a new, IRA-like account for minors (not a traditional IRA at the outset), established for eligible individuals under age 18 when the account is opened. Contributions can be made by the child’s parents/guardians and other individuals, employers under certain plans, and potentially other entities, as guidance is finalized. During the growth period, funds can be invested only in eligible mutual funds or exchange-traded funds (ETFs) (subject to further IRS/Treasury guidance on which funds qualify), and distributions are generally not permitted until the child turns 18. At that point, the account transitions to a standard traditional IRA and follows regular IRA rules moving forward.

The annual contribution limit for a Trump Account is its own annual limit under the Trump Account rules, giving families an additional planning opportunity. The Treasury Department will also launch a pilot program that provides a one-time $1,000 contribution for qualifying children born in years 2025 through 2028. The election to establish a Trump Account for calendar year 2026 may be made on IRS Form 4547, Trump Account Election(s), (once the final version is released) at any time, including at the same time that the 2025 income tax return is filed, or through the online tool or application. The online tool or application used to make the elections is expected to be available on trumpaccounts.gov in the middle of 2026.

Additionally, the IRS has requested comments on several key issues, including who may establish an account, investment requirements, trustee qualifications and the coordination of contributions from multiple sources. Tax professionals working with families may want to start evaluating how Trump Accounts fit into long-term savings and retirement strategies for minor children.

Each Trump Account provides eligible children with a $1,000 gift courtesy of Donald J. Trump. Learn more on December 17th.
