A Judge from the US District Court for the Southern District of New York ruled against the administration's 75 country ban. The admin cited the "public charge" risk as justification to refuse visas to applicants from the 75 countries. The ban resulted in prolonged separation of families, many of whom had waited years for their visa interview.

"In Florida, law enforcement officers have been asked to gather names, photographs, addresses and other personal information about people they suspect may be in the country without authorization and upload them to a centralized surveillance database.

The database debuted in August 2025 as Florida created the State Board of Immigration Enforcement and expanded the role of state and local police in immigration enforcement. FDLE developed the reporting system for local agencies to log their “suspected unauthorized alien encounters” into the database, which has since swelled to more than 30,000 entries."

Over 80% of persons entered into the database had no known criminal record

Across Florida, law enforcement officers have been asked to gather names, photographs, addresses and other personal information about people they suspect may be in the country without authorization and upload them to a centralized surveillance database during the course of their routine job duties.

Today USCIS announced a rule allowing asylum officers to refer applicants to court without first holding an asylum interview. The rule will be published in the Federal Register tomorrow. The move will further deprive asylum seekers of due process, forcing them to litigate their asylum claim before a Judge instructs an adversarial setting instead of before a a specifically trained asylum officer.

Yesterday’s Supreme Court decision allowing the administration to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti and Syria will profoundly affect hundreds of thousands of people who have built their lives in the United States.

These are not anonymous names on a court docket. They are parents raising U.S. citizen children, healthcare workers, caregivers, business owners, church members, and neighbors. Many have lived in this country lawfully for decades, renewing their status as required, paying taxes, working, and contributing to their communities while relying on the protections Congress created for people who cannot safely return home.

Approximately 350,000 Haitians and 6,100 Syrians are directly affected by this decision. Nearly half of Haitian TPS holders live in Florida.

For many families, this ruling brings renewed fear, uncertainty, and impossible choices about their future.

The ruling also paves the way for the termination of all TPS designated countries by the administration, affecting approximately 1.3 million TPS holders in the U.S. USCIS will soon issue guidance on how they intend to implement yesterday’s shameful ruling.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in a 6-3 decision along ideological lines.
