As promised yesterday, one of the new laws that took effect today is HB 397.

Violation of Pretrial Release, aka as the “Victim Safety in Pretrial Release Act.“ This new law creates a standalone criminal offense for violating a no-contact order while out on pretrial release (for certain crimes). Meaning that if you or a loved one has been released on bail, and there is an allegation that a violation of a no contact order has occurred, law enforcement can arrest you for a new law violation. Coming soon! will be hosting the 9th Annual Operation Green Light. This special statewide initiative is sponsored by the Florida Clerks and allows individuals who have overdue traffic tickets or criminal fees to pay in full while waiving the collections surcharge.

Hours of Operation: Monday, April 13 through Friday, April 17 and then again from Monday, April 20 through Friday, April 24. Operation Green Light will take place in person from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. at both the Duval County Courthouse and the Clerk's Beaches Branch located at 1543 Atlantic Blvd. There will be special extended hours until 6:30 pm on Thursday, April 16 at the Duval County Courthouse location only. No appointments are needed to participate. Those interested can simply walk in during program hours.
