Summer offers all kinds of fun water activities, but it also brings a significant uptick in drowning incidents.

On this World Drowning Prevention Day we want to highlight the risk children face–and share three pool day best practices for parents and caregivers:

🏊 If you have a backyard pool (even an inflatable/plastic one), make sure to install a four-sided pool with a self-closing, self-latching gate.

🏊 Teach your kids basic water safety rules: No running, diving in the shallow end, pushing people into the water/underwater, or swimming without adult supervision.

🏊 Stick to some basic rules of your own: Keep an eye on kids at all times (no phone breaks!), be within arm’s reach of young kids/inexperienced swimmers, and remain sober the entire time.

What other water safety tips should be added to this list? Drop them in the comments and share this post to give your network an important reminder ↩️

Happy 4th, everyone! As a firm specializing in personal injury, we want everyone to have not only a fun Independence Day, but a safe one, too. So here are just a few tips from us:

❤️ Practice food safety – If you’re grilling, make sure you wash your hands, cook meats to the right temperature, and keep an eye on perishables to see when they should go back into the fridge.

🤍 Be careful with fireworks – Make sure you follow all the recommended guidelines and keep children far, far away.

💙 Take standard precautions – Stay hydrated, don’t drink and drive, and always wear a life jacket near or in the water.

Accidents can happen at any time, so please be careful and celebrate safely! And again, have a wonderful 4th of July ❤️🤍💙

Attention, parents and caregivers 📣 Summer fun is here, but so are new risks for the children in your life.

That’s why our team of personal injury experts put together a few helpful tips to keep kids safe and healthy this season:

🌞 Apply sunscreen regularly, encourage hydration, and teach kids the signs of heat exhaustion.

🏊 Given that drowning is a leading cause of death in children ages 1 to 4, it’s vital you supervise (especially young) children while they are in or near bodies of water.

🚸 Teach children traffic safety before allowing them to ride bikes or scooters on the street, and always make sure they’re wearing protective gear.

Have a safety tip to add to the list? Add it in the comments–we’d love to hear it! While you’re at it, share this post to spread the word to your network.

Did you know that bicyclist fatalities are at their highest from June to September? That’s the unfortunate reality we want to share with you this Bike Safety Month.

To prevent accidents, both drivers and cyclists need to take precautionary measures. Here are a few such steps we recommend:

🟢 For bikers – Make sure you’re always wearing a good-fitting helmet. Use hand signals to indicate your intention to those around you. And wear bright clothes to increase your visibility

🟢 For drivers – Stay alert for bikers in your blind spots, and keep a distance of at least three feet between your vehicle and the cyclist

Feel free to share these tips as a reminder for your friends and family ➡️ And stay safe out there, folks!

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month, and our personal injury experts wanted to use this opportunity to remind everyone to stay safe on the road.

Here are four ways to do just that, this month and all year long:

🚗 Do a final check before driving. Make sure your mirrors, seat, and bluetooth connection are set up before you hit the road–and always put your seatbelt on!

💄 Avoid multitasking. Leave snacks and makeup for another time and focus on the road.

📱 Use a safety app. There are apps available to help reduce cell phone distractions when driving, so find one you like and use it each time you drive.

🚨 Know the consequences. 49 states have bans on texting while driving, and you may face fines if caught.

Share this helpful reminder with your network ↩️ and reach out to our experts with any legal questions or needs.

As Hurricane Ian returns to the Atlantic our South Florida brothers and sisters have been hit pretty hard. Utility trucks from around the southeast are headed down I-95 and I-75 to assist with the rebuilding.
Wave heights are still 10+ feet off Jacksonville Beach and wind gusts are quite powerful so be careful of falling limbs as you are out and about in Northeast Florida. I hope you and your family and friends have remained safe throughout Ian's visit.
