Very Special Surplus List
For anyone who follows us, you know that we provide fresh daily surplus records from the auctions that happen in the Florida counties. You get those records on the same day as the auction, not weeks or months later.
But then we started thinking:
What about the remaining surplus from auctions that happened during the previous 3 years?
So we got busy and created a very special list of older Florida tax deed surplus records where money appears to still be held by the counties.
Collected surplus records with no claims filed and surplus remaining from auction dates 1/1/2023 through 12/31/2025.
Focused on balances still being held by the counties and not yet sent to the Florida State Unclaimed Property department.
Included records where the lienholder claim deadline has passed.
Removed all records with surplus balances under $1,000.
Used our own database, which we have operated since 2018, to append owner names and mailing addresses at the time of auction.
Downloaded Property Information Reports when needed to locate the owner and mailing address at the time of auction.
Added county claim forms and client agreement forms needed to begin working these records.

What Makes This List Special?
Some of these records never went out to our clients at the time they were created. Over the years, a county website may have been down, forcing us to skip certain records, or a county may not have been on our gathering list yet. But now those records are here, showing the remaining surplus as of today.

Do Not Overlook the Smaller Surplus Amounts
We know that many asset recovery specialists typically skip records under $10,000, and even more so when the surplus is under $5,000. But with the economy the way it is, many people would be extremely grateful to receive an unexpected $3,000, $5,000, or $8,000.
There are 1,819 records under $10,000 on this list.
That means there are a lot of opportunities in the lower surplus ranges that other people may ignore. And since the lienholder deadline has passed, the remaining surplus is likely owed directly to the owner. That also means a much shorter wait time.
If you begin filing claims now, it may be possible to start receiving checks from the counties within 2 weeks or less.
