Summer is fun, but between vacations, camps, cookouts, beach days, and trying to remember what day it is, a lot of plans get pushed to the side.

If house hunting was one of them, August can be a great time to pick the conversation back up. 🏡

The kids are back in school, schedules are settling down, and there’s still plenty of time to make a move before the end of the year.

Kind of like moving into a new house - exciting, a little chaotic, and somehow there are always boxes you forgot to unpack. 🏡

Notice: Tax Bills Delayed

With the implementation of Session Law 2026-8, Onslow County staff are working to revert the assessments from the County's 2026 Schedule of Values back to the 2022 Schedule of Values. Personal property bills should be mailed by the last week of August and real estate notices may not be sent until early September. Please note the "Pay my Bill" feature and tax bill lookup tools on our website are not yet available for the 2026 tax year because bills will not be added to the electronic system until they are mailed out.

A short delay in mailing tax bills is necessary to ensure the accuracy of critical items in the billing file before it is finalized and mailed. Tax bills may arrive later than property owners are accustomed to but they are due September 1, 2026 and do not become delinquent unless they remain unpaid after January 5, 2027.

Session Law 2026-8 presented a technical challenge because property tax software is designed to move forward from one reappraisal cycle to the next. The changes required significant programming and extensive quality assurance by Tax Office staff.
