⚖️🗣️ TRANSPARENCY POST 🗣️⚖️
Justice doesn’t always look like a dismissal.
Sometimes, justice is securing the best possible outcome under the law for a client.
This SSLF client was facing life without the possibility of parole and had been denied bond numerous times after being charged with First Degree Murder. With a trial date set for April, all three co-defendants entered guilty pleas and indicated they were prepared to testify against him.
Despite the State’s offer of 35 years to serve, the client relied on Atty. Spencer’s former prosecutorial experience to realistically assess the evidence, risks, defenses, and trial exposure. Through careful evaluation and strategic negotiation, he entered a best-interest plea resulting in 16 years to serve.
The most meaningful moment came during plea prep when he was asked whether he was satisfied with his attorney’s representation. His response: “I just had to stop myself because I wanted to say, ‘Hell yeah!’”
