Sacrifices: Memorial Day is often seen as a long weekend, a day off work, and the unofficial start of summer.

Beneath the gatherings and celebrations is something very solemn.

We trust you took time to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country and to think of the families they left behind—the parents, spouses, children, siblings, and friends who continue to carry that loss every day.

Every human life is valuable and should never be taken for granted.

That is why the sacrifice made by all service members is so profound. To willingly lay down one’s life for another is one of the greatest acts of love a person can make. It stands in direct contrast to a culture that too often treats human life as disposable.

Many gave their very lives, and countless others willingly faced the possibility of losing theirs in order to protect others and defend our nation.

Their courage reminds us that true love is sacrificial.

KLS recognizes that this kind of selflessness reflects the sacrifice Christ made for all of us: “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” — John 15:13

The loveliest masterpiece of the heart of God is the heart of a mother.” — St. Thérèse of Lisieux

A mother’s love is found in the million little things she does each day often in addition to a full time employment. These quiet sacrifices no one else sees includes meals prepared, laundry folded, encouragement given, prayers whispered, and tears wiped away.

This Mother’s Day, KLS gives thanks for the mothers who pour themselves out in love, in ordinary moments that become extraordinary in the lives of their children.

Thank you to every mother, grandmother, adoptive mother, spiritual mother, mother who carries a child in her heart and fur baby mother.

Let your love continue to reflect the heart of God in a way the world deeply needs.

May God bless you abundantly this Mother’s Day.
