Meet Sherry Messina, our Advisor of the Week.

Sherry grew up in Orange County, California, and started in the mortgage business at 17, working her way up to loan production manager. She earned her California real estate license at 21 and has kept it current ever since.

She describes two big turning points in her life. The first was getting sober at 33 in 2004. The second came in 2006, when the mortgage industry crashed and she stepped away from her account executive role at Wells Fargo Wholesale Mortgage. She went on to start two businesses in Pacific Palisades: personal training for women and dog walking.

She married at 48 into a big family, with three stepdaughters and six step-grandkids in San Diego. When her husband said his dream was to live somewhere remote with great fly fishing, they spent a few years searching, starting in Montana, and landed in Jackson Hole in 2019. They have loved every minute since.

You’ll find Sherry on the tennis court, out for best-ball scrambles with the ladies, hiking, at book club, and first on the dance floor at any party. She loves fly fishing too, as long as someone helps with the flies and unhooking the fish.

Her advice: “Find an advisor who will put you first, go above and beyond, and communicate consistently. It’s your transaction, whether you’re buying or selling, and you have a right to know what’s happening every step of the way.”
