Scam alert 🚨

We’ve seen an uptick in texts from scammers impersonating PennDOT threatening the suspension of driving and vehicle registration privileges for not paying a fine via a link in the text message.

These messages are NOT from PennDOT; we urge anyone who receives one to delete it and avoid clicking any links.

PennDOT does not send texts about traffic violations or fines – we use mail sent via the U.S. Postal Service to communicate with customers.

When you hear a siren or see a vehicle approaching from any direction with flashing red lights or a combination of red and blue lights, you must:

• Pull over to the curb or side of the road and stop.
• Drive parallel and as near to the curb as possible. On one-way streets, drive toward the nearest roadside and stop.
• Stay clear of intersections.
• Start driving again after the emergency vehicle passes you, keeping at least 500 feet away from it.
• Make sure another emergency vehicle is not coming.

Holiday Closure Update 🚨

All PennDOT driver license and photo centers, including our full-service center in Harrisburg, will be closed Saturday, January 17, 2026, through Monday, January 19, 2026, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday.

Ahead of winter weather expected across PA starting Friday morning, PennDOT plans to implement vehicle restrictions across Pennsylvania’s Interstate network.

The following Tier 3 vehicle restrictions are planned to go into effect at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 26:
• Interstate 81, south of I-83.
• ALL Pennsylvania interstates west of I-81 including PA Turnpike I-76, PA Turnpike I-70, and all western PA Turnpike extensions.

The following Tier 3 vehicle restrictions are planned to go into effect at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 26:
• I-81, north of I-83.
• Route 33, entire length.
• U.S. 22 between I-78 to Route 33.
• ALL Pennsylvania interstates east of I-81 including PA Turnpike I-76 and all eastern PA Turnpike extensions.

Please note that RVs/motorhomes are included in commercial vehicle restrictions.
