⚖️ WIN OF THE WEEK: CASE DISMISSED

This week’s win came after taking a hard look at how the State obtained its evidence.

My client was charged with Possession of Ma*****na, along with several companion charges arising out of the same investigation.

After reviewing the case, I filed a Motion to Suppress challenging the search warrant and the evidence obtained in connection with that search.

Today, the possession case was dismissed — and all companion charges were dropped as well.

Search warrants are not beyond challenge. The government still has to follow the Constitution, establish the required legal basis for a search, and obtain evidence lawfully.

Sometimes the most important part of criminal defense is asking the question:

Should the State have had this evidence in the first place?

This week, asking that question mattered.

DISMISSED. ALL COMPANION CHARGES DROPPED.

This week, I secured a dismissal in a disorderly conduct case that I firmly believed never should have been charged in the first place.

Sometimes the biggest win for a client is not negotiating a better outcome—it is standing your ground and saying the case should not exist at all.

Charge dismissed. Client gets to move forward.

That’s a win worth celebrating.

We’re back!!! AND feeling refreshed, recharged, and ready to serve our clients and community!

After a much-needed break, Iowa River Legal is back open and operating today and this week. We are incredibly grateful for everyone’s patience while we took some time to rest and reset.

Through years of observation on the Big Bear eagle cam, Jackie became a powerful symbol of strength, perseverance, and the enduring beauty of the natural world. Her story touched countless lives and inspired a deeper appreciation for our nation’s wildlife.
