Los Angeles Regional Reentry Partnership LARRP is a network of public, community and faith-based agencies and individuals across LA County, fo LARRP is a project of Community Partners.

LARRP is a network of public, community and faith-based agencies and advocates working together to ensure that our reentry system meets the needs of our agencies, communities, and the people we serve, both in terms of capacity and public policy. The Los Angeles Regional Reentry Partnership (LARRP) is the only countywide network of reentry focused non-profit organizations, public agencies, and advo

cates that works to ensure that our reentry system meets the needs of our agencies, communities, and the people we serve, both in terms of capacity and public policy. Since 2011, LARRP has been building a locally rooted reentry movement to advance positive change for millions of formerly incarcerated and convicted (FIC) Angelinos and build public will for greater equity in the criminal justice system. Since inception, LARRP has worked tirelessly to increase funding for housing, health, and social services for the FIC people and those who serve them.

California made prison phone calls free in 2022, but free calls mean nothing when 800 people are sharing 12 phones, tablets arrive years late, and “free” video calls still cost more per minute than many people inside earn per hour.

Staying connected to family isn’t a luxury. It’s one of the most proven pathways to successful reentry, and right now, the system is making it harder than it needs to be.

At LARRP, we believe communication is a right, not a privilege. California took a bold step with SB 1008. Now it’s time to hold ViaPath and CDCR accountable for actually delivering on that promise.

Men’s Central Jail remains one of the deadliest and most overcrowded jails in LA County, with reports of abuse, inadequate medical care, and people packed into cells built for far fewer individuals. From 2023 to July 2025, over 100 people died in LA County jails, with 1 in 5 deaths occurring inside MCJ. Swipe through to learn why we are calling for MCJ to close and how you can take action.

April is Second Chance Month.

As our CEO says, “Second chances aren’t just for ‘certain people.’ They’re for all of us. It’s not just about giving someone an opportunity. It’s about giving them the access to take advantage of that opportunity.”

Second Chance Month is really about reentry, and what it takes for someone to come home and actually move forward. It’s about access to jobs, housing, support, and the tools people need to rebuild their lives with stability and purpose.

Because for many people, a “second chance” isn’t a second chance at all, it’s their first real opportunity to succeed.

There are people in our community who are trying to start over after incarceration, and many of them are doing it without stable housing or the support they need to stay in recovery. That’s a really difficult place to be, and it’s something we see far too often.

Project RESTORE is our effort to change that by creating a space where people can have both a safe place to live and access to substance use recovery support in one place. The goal is to give people a real foundation to rebuild their lives, not just get by day to day.

When that kind of stability exists, it doesn’t just impact one person, it strengthens families and the broader community as well.

We’re working to raise the final funds to move this forward by April 1. If you’re able to contribute, it would mean a lot, and if not, sharing this with others who care about this work truly helps.

“When I was younger, I couldn’t imagine a future for myself beyond going to prison or dying young.”

In this powerful op-ed, Claudia Gonzalez ( ) shares her story, one shaped by trauma, survival, and a system that too often offered punishment instead of support.

Her life changed not because she was incarcerated, but because she was given diversion, a real opportunity to heal, grow, and rebuild.

Claudia’s story is not rare. There are so many people like her, survivors of violence, abuse, and harm, whose lives could look radically different if our justice system prioritized accountability and opportunity instead of defaulting to incarceration. When people are given access to diversion, lasting change doesn’t just become possible, it becomes likely.

That’s why AB 1231 matters. It’s about creating pathways to safety, healing, and real public safety that actually work.

This book has been years in the making.

It comes from a belief I’ve carried for a long time: we have to change the way we see reentry. When we focus only on labels or outcomes, we miss the people. We miss the community it takes to truly come back.

Nothing in this book happened on my own. I’m here because I had a village. People who saw me in my hardest seasons, who stayed when it would have been easier to walk away, and who walked alongside me when I couldn’t walk alone. These pages also carry the stories of men and women who trusted me with their truth. Their journeys are the heart of this work.

I’m grateful to finally share this book with you. It’s about reentry, yes, but even more, it’s about dignity, belonging, and what becomes possible when none of us have to do it alone.
Please visit SkidRowToCeo.org to preorder the book.
