Boating and summer fun often go hand in hand, but mixing alcohol with operating a boat can have serious consequences. Boating Under the Influence (BUI) is not only dangerous — it’s illegal. Just like with driving, alcohol impairs judgment, reaction time, and coordination, increasing the risk of accidents on the water.

Swipe for ways to navigate the waters safely ↩️

Staying sober behind the wheel — whether on land or water — protects lives. If you or someone you know is facing BUI charges, our firm is here to help navigate the legal process. Stay safe and boat responsibly!

As Flag Day approaches on June 14, it’s the perfect time to honor the U.S. flag and reflect on the proper ways to display it. Here are some key rules to remember:

✅ While clothes often have flags on them, the flag itself should never be worn or used as bedding or drapery.
✅ Always illuminate the flag if it's flown after sunset.
✅ The U.S. flag should always be at the highest point when displayed with other flags.
✅ Never let the flag touch the ground. Take care when handling it!
✅ The flag should never be carried flat; it should flow freely.
✅ A worn or tattered flag should be respectfully retired, typically through respectful burning.
✅ There are specific guidelines for lowering the flag to half-staff to honor national figures and fallen heroes.

Flag Day is a time to reflect on this powerful symbol of our nation's history. Whether you're flying the flag or simply pausing for a moment of appreciation, let’s honor it with respect and pride.

Terminology can be tough, especially when it's about something you may not be an expert in – such as criminal law. We thought we would make it as easy as the ABCs:

- Acquittal: Final judgment in a case where a defendant is not proven guilty
- Adjudication: A formal judgment on a court matter by a judge or jury
- Arraignment: Court session where the defendant issues their plea and is charged
- Bench trial: Trial where there is only a judge and no jury involved
- Charge: Formal complaint of a crime made in court against a defendant
- Compensatory damages: Money owed by the defendant to the plaintiff
- Detention: Temporary detainment or custody of a suspect or defendant
- Discovery: The prosecution turns over evidence in the case to the defendant
