Let's speak kindly to our plants, our babies and children, our partners and colleagues, and last - though certainly not least - let's speak kindly to ourselves. That helps us grow.

Relationships
The realtionship we have with our children is everything to them. It is not exaggerating to say it is a Matter of Life to them: the more healthy the relationship, the rosier their future.

The relationship is build up in little increments:
• the ways in which we speak to our babies
• the ways we handle them and hold them
• the ways we care for them and meet their needs
• and being there for them when they are scared, distressed, angry or overwhelmed ...
Each little act of kindness is a gift into the child's present and their into future.
Nurture and kindness is spirituality in practice.
It's that simple.

Am important distinction. Our kids share our lives intimately and yet we owe them a filter and to not lean on what we should be supporting with our strength.

Kids are kids. They aren't able to bear the emotional burden of an adult friendship. Be warm, empathetic, and open, but don't overshare with or seek comfort from your kids. This flips the family roles upside down and erodes you ability to be an emotionally safe person for your child.
I look forward to being friends with my children. I'm laying the groundwork for that now. But I will build that relationship once we are both adults.

***Important update for those with custody, parenting time, and child support issues***
The Indiana Supreme Court issued an order today (4/1/20) regarding custody, parenting time, and child support during this public health emergency. The Court has ordered that custody and parenting time orders are unaffected by the COVID-19 pandemic and current orders shall be followed. The order clarifies that transporting children for parenting time exchanges is deemed “essential travel”. For purposes of interpreting custody and parenting time orders, the school calendar as published at the start of the academic year from each child’s school shall control. Custody and parenting time shall not be affected by the school’s closure during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Court encourages parents to be flexible and cooperate for the best interests and health of the children during this time.

If both parents and any other parties to their court case (“the parties”) believe there is a reason to temporarily modify or change the terms of a custody or parenting time court order during the COVID-19 pandemic and modification is not prohibited by the terms of their existing order, they may informally agree in writing to temporarily modify their existing order. This temporary agreement may be filed with the court, but filing is not necessary so long as the agreement is kept by the parties. However, if a parent believes that a modification is appropriate and the parties cannot agree to the terms, an emergency motion must be filed.

Additionally, the Court has stated that child support orders are unaffected by the pandemic and support must continue to be paid. If you are unable to maintain your current support obligation, you must file an emergency motion requesting relief.

The order also stated that “Agreements, petitions, or motions should be filed electronically, as documents sent by U.S. Mail or fax may not be reviewed by the judge as promptly.” Filings with the court for a party represented by an attorney shall be made by the attorney.
