Oklahoma Senate Bill 57 (SB 57) increased the margin requirements for documents filed with county clerks, effective November 1, 2024. The new requirements are:
Top margin
The top margin for documents filed with county clerks must be at least two inches.
Side margins
The side margins for documents filed with county clerks must be at least one inch.
Additional fees
County clerks may accept documents that don't meet the margin requirements if the document is legible, xerographically reproducible, and the filer pays an additional fee.
Explanation
SB 57 applies to documents that affect the ownership of real property, such as conveyances, encumbrances, leases, and assignments of leases. The bill does not apply to plats, filings under the Uniform Commercial Code, or other instruments filed under other laws.
