Today is World Sight Day. 👁️ Observed every year on the second Thursday of October, World Sight Day raises awareness about eye health, vision impairment, and preventable blindness.
In recognition of this important day, we're shining a light on a lesser-known vision condition called NAION. Sometimes referred to as an “eye stroke,” it can cause sudden, painless, and potentially permanent vision loss.
Research has linked popular GLP-1 medications such as Ozempic, Wegovy, and Rybelsus to an increased risk of NAION.
Legal concerns are growing, too. Thousands of GLP-1 product liability cases are now pending in federal court, with plaintiffs alleging that manufacturers failed to adequately warn users about serious potential risks. Separate federal litigation is now focused specifically on GLP-1 medications and NAION.
Swipe to learn what NAION is, what the research shows, and what people diagnosed with NAION after taking a GLP-1 medication should know.

Sudden vision loss requires prompt medical attention. Do not stop taking a prescribed medication without speaking with your healthcare provider.
