Since 1980, mortgage rates have climbed, fallen, and climbed again. Home prices have changed dramatically too.

In Calvert County, the median sales price was roughly $69,000 in 1980. By 2025, it had grown to nearly $490,000.

Along the way, buyers have experienced everything from the double-digit mortgage rates of the 1980s to the historically low rates of just a few years ago.

The market has changed.
