Police reports are one of the most important pieces of evidence in a personal injury case. When officers arrive at the scene and gather information from both drivers, the resulting report is usually a good foundation for the case.
However, there is a growing problem in Philadelphia. Officers no longer respond to minor accidents. That leaves drivers stuck on the road for hours and eventually they have to self-report the accident at the local police district. By then, the facts are blurred and the report is far less accurate than one taken at the scene.
We hope you never are, but if youâre ever in an accident in Philly, document everything yourself. Photos, videos, witness names and numbers, the other driverâs information, everything you can document, do it. Donât completely rely on the police report to tell the entire story.
