It’s a question we hear – and no, we’re not just being nosy. 😊 Your marital status can affect how a property is titled, how the deed and other closing documents are prepared, and sometimes who needs to sign those documents. That’s why we may ask whether you’re married, single, divorced, widowed, or have had a previous name. Even if your spouse isn’t on the deed, their marital status can still be relevant to the title and settlement process depending on the circumstances. The goal is simple: make sure the ownership information is correct and the documents are prepared properly before closing. So when your title company asks a question that seems a little too personal, there’s usually a reason behind it.
At Global Abstract & Settlement, we handle the details behind the scenes to help make your closing as smooth as possible.
