🚨 Greensboro Police Department: do better. 🚨
When a police department posts a “sweetheart” meme that’s clearly being used to mock a specific person in the comments, it stops being “cute” and starts being government-powered ridicule.
A criminal charge is not a punchline. A defendant is not a prop for engagement. And when law enforcement helps shape public opinion about someone before trial, it undermines the integrity of the justice process and the public’s confidence that cases are handled fairly, not performatively. 📣
Whether you like the person or not, the presumption of innocence is the point. ⚖️
We expect higher standards from agencies that wield badges, authority, and public platforms. This wasn’t community safety. This was a dogpile.
GPD should take it down, address it publicly, and adopt a clear policy: no content that targets or invites ridicule of identifiable citizens in pending matters. ✅
