The tournament raised $95,350 with 100% of the proceeds given directly to Ronald McDonald House Charities, supporting thousands of Maryland families each year.

And how did our team do in the tournament? By all accounts, "Not too bad!" ⛳

Attorneys, financial advisors, and CPAs often work together, but we rarely get the chance to kick back and get to know each other.

That changed last week at a happy hour hosted by the Estate Planning Council (BEPC) and Association of CPAs (MACPA). Attorneys and accountants descended on Union Craft Brewing for an evening of great conversation and IPAs.

Children who learn about an unequal plan only after a parent has passed, with no context and no explanation, tend to read it as judgment. Even when that was never the intent.

Sharing your reasoning while you are still here, even in general terms, changes that entirely. It turns a decision your children might otherwise question into one they understand and, often, respect.

This conversation does not have to happen all at once, and it does not require sharing every detail. Conversely, putting your reasoning in writing and having even a brief conversation about it removes the ambiguity that courts and unhappy heirs can otherwise use to contest a plan.

We receive many questions about MOLST forms, which are sometimes confused with an Advance Directive.

A MOLST is a medical order signed by your physician to guide what emergency treatments may be administered by other medical providers.

As attorneys, we cannot sign or help you to prepare a MOLST. Only your physician can assist with this.
