Your spouse refusing to sign doesn’t automatically mean you’ll lose your green card.
If you received a 2-year conditional green card through marriage, you would typically file Form I-751 jointly with your spouse to remove the conditions. But life doesn’t always go according to plan.
If you’re separated, going through a divorce, experiencing abuse or extreme cruelty, or your spouse refuses to cooperate, you may qualify to request an I-751 waiver and file without your spouse’s signature or participation.
The end of a relationship—or an uncooperative spouse—doesn’t automatically mean the end of your immigration journey. What matters is understanding which filing option applies to your circumstances and preparing evidence that supports your case.
⏰ If your conditional green card is approaching its expiration date and you’re unsure what to do next, don’t wait to explore your options.
