Should we police the police?

An HPD sergeant was suspended, and another officer resigned after an investigation into allegations that they secretly placed a tracking device on a suspect's vehicle without a warrant, according to sources.

These words of wisdom (while I think of them every year) are written by (& stolen from) my friend Nathan Alsbrooks:

Hey guys, if you get arrested around the holiday season on something serious enough to be held at no bail, don’t expect your attorney to do two backflips and ballroom dancing to get you out before Christmas. Many courts = not even in session until 01/05/06. Many DA’s = out on vacation. It is hard to make the bureaucracy hum this time or year. Please consider this before you act a damn fool. Thanks - Nathan. BTW: Lawyers, judges, and court staff deserve time off, too!
