Most people relocating to Houston start their search on Google and end up with the same 3 neighborhoods. But where you live in Houston completely changes your day to day life, and not just the commute.
We work with a lot of relocating buyers and the first thing we tell them is that Houston doesn’t have one vibe, it has about ten. The neighborhood you choose affects your commute, your weekend, your restaurants, your school district, and honestly how much you actually enjoy living here.
So before you default to what everyone else picks, here’s what we’d actually consider based on how you live:
If you work in the Medical Center — look at Bellaire, West University, Braeswood, Montrose and Upper Kirby. Short commute, great lifestyle, and you won’t feel like you’re sacrificing anything.
If you work Downtown — the Heights, Montrose, and Rice Military are the obvious picks, but EaDo gives you the same access at a more affordable price point.
If want to be in the middle of everything in the city but still want that neighborhood feel — the Heights, Garden Oaks, Oak Forest, and Spring Branch all give you that inner loop lifestyle with a real neighborhood feel.
If you have kids and schools are the priority — West University, Spring Valley, River Oaks, the Memorial Villages, and Bellaire if you want to stay close in. If you’re open to the suburbs, we’re partial to Cypress (particularly Bridgeland and Towne Lake).
