When we talk about heroes, let’s not forget the ones who are not on this wall.
They are young, fearless, and brilliant. They are revolutionaries in Jordans and hoop shorts. They are trailblazers in big hoops and leggings. They are Black, White, and Hispanic. They chant BLACK LIVES MATTER through their masks in the midst of a global pandemic. They organize and strategize over Instagram. They show up to City Hall at 8:00 AM to protest police funding a week after being physically assaulted and wrongfully arrested by the police. They make the world listen...even when the police say shut up.
They are LIT. They are my clients. THEY ARE MY HEROES. 💫

Last weekend, we began a new tradition by holding our first FREE legal clinic, Make It Right with McKnight! We gave away over $20,000 in legal services to help some deserving people erase their criminal records! As a result, they will be able to get better jobs, better housing, and a second chance at a better life. Thank you to every lawyer who volunteered their Saturday to help me! I would also like to thank my wonderful Summer Intern for the key role she played in executing the vision!

Educators have such an important job. Before you call the police on your students, please remember that you were once a kid. Every problem doesn't need to be resolved with the police. Suspension and detention are still effective. Were there any serious injuries as a result of the fight? Did someone die because the student skipped school? If the answer is "no," let's leave the laws out of it. Life is already hard. Having an unnecessary conviction on your record only makes it harder!
