SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTING TO BRIBE A CONSTABLE DEPUTY
On April 20, 2022, deputies with Constable Mark Herman's Office responded to the 5900 block of James C Leo Drive in reference to a one vehicle crash. Upon arriving, a witness advised that a female driver hit a curb, drove over a flower bed, caused damaged to a neighborhood sign and fled the scene on foot.
The witness also reported that a few moments later, a male arrived to the location before the police and attempted to take the blame for the crash.
The female suspect then returned to the scene and was identified as Dulce Ortiz, who displayed several signs of intoxication. It was discovered that she was in fact the driver who wrecked the vehicle.
The Harris County District Attorney's Office was contacted and originally accepted charges for Failure to Stop and Give Information.
While transporting her to the jail, she attempted to bribe the male deputy by offering sexual acts and cash in exchange to be let go.
"Dulce Ortiz was arrested an booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Bribery. Her bond has not been set but is assigned to the 262nd District Court." - Constable Mark Herman
