Shocking news about the "Lovers Lane" murder suspect.
I went to school with Cheryl Henry and her sister Shane.
In 1990, Cheryl Henry and her boyfriend Andy Atkinson were found brutally murdered.

The case remained unsolved until this year.
The families have waited over 35 for justice.

Charges were recently filed against the suspect alleged to have killed Cheryl and Andy.

Today, we learned that the suspect has died by possible su***de.

If this suspect committed these gruesome murders, he took the cowardly way out to avoid trial.

I cannot begin to imagine the roller coaster of emotions for the Henry and Atkinson families. Finally an arrest, but they will never get answers.

Praying for Cheryl, Andy, and their families.

Let's remember the victims. Cheryl was a beautiful, fun-loving, bright light. I didn't know Andy, but no 20 year old deserves to be tortured to death. It's heartbreaking.

I received an unusual compliment in court today.
I recently finished a capital murder trial. My client was accused and convicted of killing 2 people.
Today, I was in court talking to the trial judge on other matters. The judge told me that after my trial, the mother of one of the deceased victims in my trial asked the judge for my business card. The mother told the judge that I had done such a great job representing my client (who was accused of killing her son), and she had a family member who needed my help. Wow.
Judge said it was the highest compliment...coming from the mother of her deceased son in my case.

Since I finished my capital murder trial last week, I've been busy preparing for my next jury trial set 5/5. The charge is Sexual Assault, adult complainant.
Today was pretrial conference, and I finally secured a DISMISSAL for my client!

I've been working on this case for a year and a half. I have firmly believed in my client's innocence since day 1. Representing an innocent client is the most stressful thing for a criminal defense lawyer.

My client was overwhelmed at the news of the dismissal today. He was crying in court and couldn't stop hugging me for giving him his life back.

My client is 50 years old with no prior criminal record, gainfully employed, and one of the most polite client's I've represented.

The complaint was not credible. Even the responding officers believed my client, not the complainant. Yet, 7 months after the complainant claimed she was r***d, and after the complainant's family filed IAD complaints against the responding officers for not arresting my client on scene, a different detective called the District Attorney's Office and charged my client with the felony of sexual assault. He was facing up to 20 years in prison. The DA offered my client 7 years in prison as a "plea bargain." So, I set the case for trial.

It only takes the word of one accuser to file criminal charges on a person. Then, the accused is stuck in the criminal system until their case gets tried or dismissed. It's been a very stressful time for my client. His life has been on hold. He told me he is going home to have a really hard cry. This burden has been almost too much for him to bear over the past 1.5 years. The flood of emotions was immense, and I had tears in my eyes.

People tend not to like defense attorneys, until they need one...especially when they are wrongly accused.

Today was a good day.

Have you been watching the Kouri Richins murder trial?
She is accused of murdering her husband with fentanyl, then wrote a children's book on grief.
They are in closing arguments now.
Watching the defense attorneys has been something.
What are your thoughts?
