**Important** for Sellers: Don’t let your toilet be the deal-breaker! If you're planning to sell your home and want to maximize your profits, don’t forget the small but crucial details—like that toilet ring. As your Realtor, I’d remind you that even the smallest detail can impact your bottom line.
A simple thing, like cleaning the toilet while living in the home. or if it's too late using sandpaper or pumice stone to clean the ring, will make a huge difference. Because no matter how clean your home is or how much effort you've put into prepping for the market, if a potential buyer lifts the lid and sees that ring, it sends a clear message: "This home has been neglected." It shows that something as easy as a quick weekly clean hasn’t been done. And that could mean trouble when the inspection report comes back.
Now, imagine I’m representing a buyer. If I see that ring, I’m immediately concerned about the home’s upkeep. I know that if they missed something this visible, there’s probably more hidden issues. That means I’ll be advising my buyer to make a lowball offer, plus request seller concessions for repairs, new toilets, fresh paint, and possibly replacing or deep cleaning the flooring.
Bottom line: By just taking a few minutes to clean the toilet, you could have avoided this mess and likely made a lot more money. A small effort can lead to big rewards!
