Rusty Hardin & Associates attorneys Rusty Hardin, Daniel Dutko, and Joe Roden recently secured a $46 million verdict in a wrongful death case involving an oil field worker in Hays County, Texas. Andrew West was hit by a truck, suffering severe internal injuries and passing away several hours later. “This verdict reflects the jury’s understanding that when someone’s reckless conduct takes a life, there must be accountability,” Rusty said. “No amount of money can bring Andrew back, but this jury sent a clear message about the value of his life.”

“I didn’t do this to myself. The gun fired while it was still in the holster.”

Veteran Houston police officer Richard Fernandez was shot in the leg by his service weapon — a Sig Sauer P320 — without ever touching it.

This is not an isolated incident. Hundreds of similar spontaneous discharges have been reported, yet Sig Sauer Inc. continues to deny responsibility and refuses to issue a safety warning.

We are filing this lawsuit alongside J. Scott Siscoe to hold this gun manufacturer accountable for putting profit over public safety. Our hope is to prevent another officer, civilian or bystander from being harmed.
