We sure do love our half day Fridays here at Renken Law.

Attorney Renken adopted half day Fridays a few years ago as a way to incentivize her employees for working long, dedicated hours during the week.

The days are long, but the work is meaningful, so it makes it worth it.

Monday through Thursday are filled with hearings, discovery, deadlines, drafting, filing, researching, you name it!

Fridays are for catching up and planning for the following week.

We work hard at Renken Law, so we think we deserve our half days!

The Renken Law Firm would like to congratulate and celebrate our very own, Reese Robinson.

Reese is Attorney Renken's niece.

Reese is graduating today from Klein High School and is attending McNeese University in the fall where she will be studying History to become a History Teacher.

Reese interned here over the last two years and became an asset to the firm. Her curiosity and positive attitude were what set her apart from anyone else.

During her four years at Klein High School, Reese was a member of many organizations, including FFA and ROTC. She went to state competition for Criminal Justice and was awarded for having the highest community hours in the state! And, every Friday Night lights you would see Reese cheering on the Bearkats as a Standleader, a coveted leadership role.

Congratulations to Reese and all the other graduates!

One of the hard truths we had to learn early on in family law is that not ALL family law attorneys actually care about the people they represent.

There are many attorneys that will salivate at the thought of a highly contentious custody or divorce fight because that's a glorious billing opportunity and proceed accordingly without truly acting on the best interests of their client.

We've seen it many times.

And because of this, it shaped how we operate our firm. We were determined to not have this kind of reputation and wanted to set ourselves apart from other firms.

You would think the hardest part of family law is the law itself, but it isn't. Probably the most challenging piece of family law is managing the client's expectations.

Client's come into our offices with emotions ranging from anger, betrayal, heartbreak, fear and even the desire for revenge.

They think we can punish the opposing party with the law.

But the law doesn't work that way.

The law only looks at the facts of the case, not the emotional toll.

Just because someone cheated, lied or hurt you doesn't mean the courts will give you everything you want.

Sometimes the role of the family law attorney is to tell the truth, even when the client's don't want to hear it.

That's our job, to guide our clients with the truth, not provide false hope.

Because honesty and clarity always wins.
