Lawyers Lance Kassab and David Kassab obtained a judgment in excess of $5 million dollars for their clients, the owners of famous (and delicious) Terry Blacks BBQ, against the Cokinos Young law firm and its lawyer James (Jim) Ewbank, II for breach of fiduciary duty. The judgment confirmed an arbitration award issued after a multi-day arbitration hearing in front of a panel of three arbitrators that found James (Jim) Ewbank, II engaged in a “clear and serious” violation of his fiduciary duties when he “repeatedly mislead” and acted “adversarial to” clients of his law firm - the Black family - and misused their confidential information to increase his own commission in a real estate transaction.

A unanimous jury verdict was awarded to Lance Kassab and David Kassab's client following a five-day trial in federal court against Houston attorney J. Mark Brewer and his firm Brewer & Pritchard. The jury's decision found the lawyers guilty of breaching their fiduciary duties, engaging in unconscionable conduct, and converting the client's property, with actual damages awarded at over $730,000. Notably, the greedy lawyers offered a settlement of less than 10% of that amount just prior to the trial.

Two Houston companies filed a lawsuit against DLA alleging that once the firm discovered that the individual was not licensed, they fired him and attempted to cover up the situation.

New lawsuit we filed made the news. Barratry is the unlawful solicitation of clients. Texas law allows victims of barratry to sue both lawyers and nonlawyers who commit the act. If you have been personally solicited to hire an attorney or legal service like LawShield you may be entitled to compensation.

Texas law is clear that the prohibitions against barratry apply to legal-service-contract companies like LawShield and its employees, the complaint said.

Attorneys Lance Kassab and David Kassab obtained a reversal for their client from the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals after the client's claims against Brewer & Pritchard, P.C. were dismissed by the bankruptcy court and affirmed by the federal district court. Only 7.2% of cases appealed to the Fifth Circuit in 2018 were reversed.
