Jason Hyman, Real Estate Broker & Urban Planner

Jason Hyman, Real Estate Broker & Urban Planner I use real estate brokerage & urban planning techniques to build wealth in communities! I am an urban planning specialist and broker/owner of Realinc, LLC.

I use real estate brokerage and urban planning techniques to build wealth in communities. My team and I provide real estate brokerage services, support for infill development, and consulting for revitalization strategies. In my career I've served as a portfolio management officer with Bank of America and financial analyst for the City of Houston’s Housing & Community Development Department (HCDD).

During my tenure I've managed assets up to $1 billion, facilitated the creation of 219 homes, aided 283 homebuyers, and oversaw 1,100 affordable rental units across 13 apartment complexes. I am a proud Board Member for the Houston Black Real Estate Association and a founding member of the Third Ward Real Estate Council. My belief is that housing is the cornerstone of community vitality and envision developing access to homes and commercial property for everyone.

and I decided some time ago that we were going to actively invest in our community. You know, take the Chip and Joanna Gaines approach to revitalization to some degree.

I'll tell you later how it's going, but since then we started buying property not always knowing what we were going to do with it other than improve the condition it was in. We see vibrant and economically inclusive opportunities for housing and jobs where everyone else sees vacant, blighted spaces. So we figured we'd build what we wanted to see in our neighborhood.

Along the way we've met others that feel the same way and weve been helping each other grow and scale. Now we have an opportunity to take another step in growing our community.

Throughout the course of next year well be hosting our inaugural small scale developer accelerator program through The 3rd Ward Real Estate Council. Well be using an actual project to not only provide housing, but to also build capacity among our community of neighborhood developers. Participants will be taken through a curriculum of classes/workshops while gaining first hand experience with an actual project they are a part of.

We still have capacity for serious participants that want to work together to build missing middle housing and neighborhood scale commercial spaces in Third Ward and surrounding areas.

You definitely have to think about more than the note. Its maintaining the house that gets everyone. I remember working for the city and getting calls from home owners we delivered homes to. They were calling to see when we were coming out to change their filters and bulbs. Sorry, it's yours now...

The hidden costs of owning a home have climbed to nearly $16,000 a year nationwide, rising faster than most household incomes, according to a new analysis: http://www.khou.com/article/news/nation-world/hidden-homeowner-costs-climb-to-nearly-16k-annually/507-98a8a132-d36a-437e-ad43-e8cd236996ab?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook_KHOU_11_News

I've been interviewing for a number of roles in our firm as of late and its been an interesting journey to say the least. First, there are some crazy people out there. I probably have a hundred stories to tell that you wouldn't believe. In the end I've had to learn to slow down and pay attention to what people are really saying. It has meant making tough choices, but choosing the right people is everything. You have to have integrity in this business, something outside of money to drive you, and have an end goal in mind. With that I have a rock star office to support real estate agents that want to be professionals in this business. I'm even starting to bring urban planners and other professionals in the firm. You have to be sharp on your feet and bring something to the table, but it's all up over here. Message me if you're thinking about getting in the real estate industry or looking for a place where you can leverage your talent.

Damn yall. Houston ain't Houston no more. Is there anything left from old Houston. The city doesnt really have an identity so Im curious to see what it evolves into as people continue to move here.

From roller skating to Beyoncé, the Alief landmark leaves behind a legacy as its future remains unclear. bit.ly/47K65dg

This makes sense. Over 200,000 moved here last year. Do you think well meet or blow past that number again this year?

I'm lucky!

I get to get up everyday and do something in the real estate industry to revitalize communites, build wealth and new beginnings.

I still remember passing my real estate exam and choosing my first broker, working for housing and community development, and later working in banking.

Now I get to support a great group of people in their real estate careers as a licensed real estate broker & urban planner. Through my office we've been fortunate enough to have been entrusted with advising on policy, built programming for community development, and managing millions in real estate assets for others.

There's no way I would've ever known that the sum of my steps would bring me here and I look forward to the success and failures ahead.

Oxford Economics says the crumbling housing market will continue deteriorating because of two key factors. The article sites not enough inventory and interest rates as the 2 factors.

Even with inventory climbing, the market still needs a variety of housing types to grow. Smaller footprints, environmental sustainability, and social living will all be trends to follow as the country navigates this moment in history.

Home prices are 55% higher than they were at the beginning of 2020.
