Armand F. Jawanmardi attended the University of Houston. At UH, Armand received Deans List Honors each semester, was the top graduating student for the Department of Political Science in the Spring of 2008, achieved a near perfect grade point average, and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science in May 2008. After graduation, he worked for the Houston Independent School District, teaching elementary school students reading, writing, and math. He then moved to Austin, Texas and began law school at The University of Texas School of Law in 2010. During law school, he took an immigration law course and was chosen to participate in the UT Law Immigration Clinic under the instruction of co-directors Barbara Hines and Denise Gilman. During this time he was co-counsel for an asylum case. Armand and his co-counsel won this case decisively, and the judge, before the merits hearing began, told the Government that he was inclined to grant relief based on the strength and diligent work of the evidentiary submission. It was during this time that Armand solidified his passion for issues affecting the immigrant population. After graduating from The University of Texas School of Law, Armand returned to Houston to work for one of the city's most prestigious immigration law firms. With a true understanding of what it means to put clients first, Armand gives back to the community by taking pro bono cases for Catholic Charities and the YMCA International Services. He has experience in immigration litigation and defense, particularly in Asylum, Withholding of Removal, Cancellation of Removal, Convention Against Torture (CAT), Adjustment of Status, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), and U-visas.
