The Business Department Speaker Series continued last week with a fantastic speaker in Personal and Business Law class. Attorney Jessica Ellis visited HHS and provided students with insight into a career in law, educational requirements/differing paths, as well as shared her diverse experiences as both a private attorney as well as assistant DA. We're elated to present our 2023 Community Service Award winners! A banquet to honor our recipients will be held on November 9th, 2023 at 6th & River - 6pm cocktail hour, 7pm dinner. 🏆

$60 per person for a buffet style dinner and dessert. Appetizers and a cheese and charcuterie spread will be available during cocktail hour.

Did you know that May is National Foster Care Month? 👪💙 We thought it would be a good time to answer a common question we hear: what’s the difference between foster care and adoption?

Here are the answers:

1️⃣ Foster care is the temporary placement of a child, whether that be a couple weeks or long-term. Adoption, however, is permanent. Fostering can sometimes lead to adoption, but it’s not guaranteed–and family reunification is usually the ultimate goal.

2️⃣ Foster parents receive government stipends to help cover the expenses of fostering a child. Parents who adopt usually receive no financial assistance, with all costs being “out of pocket.”

To all foster parents out there, we hope you know how appreciated you are! Thank you for all you do, and of course, reach out to us if we can ever be of assistance.
