Is Your Child Emancipated? It May Be Time to Review Child Support.
As children grow older, circumstances change. A child may complete their education, become financially independent, or reach another milestone that raises questions about emancipation. In New Jersey, emancipation and the termination of child support depend on the applicable law, court orders, and individual circumstances. Support does not necessarily end automatically when a child turns 18 or graduates high school. If you believe your child may be emancipated, it may be time to review your existing order. We can help you determine whether a modification or termination of child support may be appropriate.
