▫️The U.S. Department of State announced the postponement of the DV-2027 Diversity Visa registration nearly a year ago, but it has yet to announce a new registration date or provide a timeline for when registration will open.

▫️Against this backdrop, immigration law firm Red Eagle Law filed a lawsuit against Secretary of State Marco Rubio, seeking to compel the administration to open registration before the end of the fiscal year, September 30.

▫️On September 3, the court denied the request for a temporary restraining order, in part because of the limited time available. The judge noted that even an expedited decision could come too late.

▫️However, the case is still ongoing. On September 24, the court held a hearing on the request for a preliminary injunction. The judge said she would issue a decision by October 14 - already after the end of the fiscal year.

▫️Even if the ruling favors the plaintiffs, it remains unclear how and when DV-2027 registration would be organized.
That’s why relying on DV-2027 as your only path to moving to the United States simply isn’t a viable strategy.
