We went from tuxedos and gowns to class A uniforms in 8 hours! It was a very busy week in Tallahassee and FFMIA was well represented. The 1st Annual Black Tie Gala was Wednesday evening . This sold out event benefits the Florida Joint Council of Fire &Emergency Services. The Joint Council is made up of 10 fire service associations . Our main mission is to provide travel and lodging support for families attending the annual Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service at the Florida State Fire College each year where their loved ones are memorialized. The joint council also serves as the vetting organization to ensure proper recognition is made. This includes review of circumstances related to line of duty deaths and funding engraving on the granite wall at the Memorial in Ocala and the Monument on the grounds of the Florida Capitol. As treasurer of the Joint council we thank all who traveled to ensure the success of this inaugural event.

On Thursday morning we were honored to partipate in the 1st annual Fire Service Day at the Capitol. This too was a very well attended event showcasing all aspects of Florida’s fire and emergency services. It was a beautiful day and the event was attended by many legislators and the public. Thank you to CFO Patronis, Director JoAnne Rice and your team for allowing us to be part of this great event! Many miles were logged in support of these events and it was truly time well spent!
