ALERT! The traffic signal at Scholls Ferry Road and Allen Boulevard is out for an emergency utility repair. Flaggers may be present. Avoid the area; use alternate route.

Your bank will probably never call you to get confidential information from you. And, if it appears that they are calling you as the number on your phone or caller id looks like the bank number, hang up and call your bank yourself. Odds are good it's a scammer trying to get information from you.

The same thing applies if someone calls you and tells you that they have a warrant for you. That's definitely going to be a scam.

Watch out for puppy scams on Facebook. And, don't expect Facebook to do anything to act. These people will join a group or even start one and then use other fake profiles to tell you how trustworthy the "breeder" is, etc. Then, when the victim tries to buy a dog from them, they send them an email and require a deposit. If you want a dog, go see the breeder. Look at the dog. Make sure it's a real human and real dog and not some fake profile generated from a group of thieves here or overseas.

A client told me about a new scam today. He has been looking for an old piano on Craigslist and apparently lots of people offer them if you are willing to move it. He found one. Good photo. Good piano. Texted the seller. Seller said it was in a hard to move spot, but seller had a mover he used who could do it and texted client back the number. Turns out it's not an Oregon area code so client googled scams and found out that the way they work it is you give them a credit card to move the piano and then they don't show up and there never was a piano. Client texted seller for his address. Seller said the moving company has the address. If client got it worked out with them, they would move it. He didn't need the address. Hmmm. That was all it took to confirm the scam. Client blocked seller after that. Beware the level of criminal creativity.
