Losing your sense of safety changes you in ways you don’t see right away. After the Eaton Fire, I kept wondering why I felt so unsettled—even months later, even as life kept moving forward. It turns out the answer wasn’t just about the fire or the displacement. It was about what “home” really means, and what happens when the foundation you’ve relied on for decades suddenly disappears.
I wrote a piece about the deeper layers of safety—why they matter, what happens when they’re shaken, and how you rebuild something new out of the loss. If you’ve ever felt unmoored, whether from disaster, transition, or life’s curveballs, this one might resonate.
Safety isn’t found—it’s rebuilt, piece by piece.
