The idea behind a statute of limitations is finality, the system does not want cases sitting open indefinitely without a timeframe in mind.

The fastest and only way is to go to the courthouse.

A victim coordinator will help you file the paperwork. Be as detailed as possible, because the judge will review the information, ask questions under oath, and decide whether to grant the order.

Keep in mind, an Order of Protection does not physically stop someone from acting. Once granted, the person still has to be served, and you should always take safety concerns seriously.
