Great message tonight by Rabbi Yossi at the South Bay JCC evening service, before Day 1 of Rosh Hashanna. Lots of encouragement for a sweet New Year, albeit under trying circumstances. We should not trick ourselves into believing we can't change or improve our situation. Sometimes adversity can be the best medicine for a psychological jolt that enables us to get off the couch and rise to the occasion... to do what we thought was unattainable. Where there's a will, there's a way, and anything is possible if you commit yourself to it. Thank you Rabbi for the encouragement.

What a treasure of a game to watch. This was the end of our dynasty, or just about that, but seriously, it was the Pittsburgh Steelers at their finest. The defense was amazing all day ... putting leg irons on Earl Campbell, and unleashing savage hits and a relentless pass rush throughout. Yes, Houston was indeed ripped off and had a TD stolen when Mike Renfro got both feet down late in the 3rd quarter, but aside from that, the Oilers never really threatened the end zone.
In the first half, we recovered from Vernon Perry's shocking pick six, with an offensive flurry near the end of the first half, which sent the crowd into a frenzy and closed the book going into halftime with the Black and Gold up 17 to 10. After that, despite a truly heroic performance by Dante Dan Pasotrini, all the Luv ya Blue could do was a lttle field gola from portly, but reliable, Tony Fritsch.
When the clock struck zero, the fans stormed the field, patted Bradshaw on the back and danced for joy in 26 degree frigidity.
I was only 14, but I knew there could never be anything greater in sports than that team. And there was no doubt in my mind we would go on and win the Super Bowl. I would have bet the house in Potomac, MD, if my Dad would have let me.
Keep on rolling Steelers, keep on rolling.

How about a late night upset action at the US Open.... as American Tommy Paul, who happens to be a dead ringer for Brad Davis of Midnight Express fame battles to stay in the make against No. 1 Sinner. I'm praying for Tommy's escape with the 2nd set tie breaker but it looks pretty dicey.

Not to belabor the point, but heading into Labor Day we take occasion to showcase the legendary bromance that is Tank and Abe. It's the "Going loco at the O.Co." CDST Show. Yes, there's a golf cart burning some serious rubber on the basepaths at the largely vacant warehouse that is the Bay area mausoleum, and our boys are winning hearts and taking names in this swan song season for the green and gold in Oakland.

Lots of other baseball to discuss, including ChabDog's take on the hokey, homespun creations of batting stance guy... gotta see his
