Look at this contract from about 4000 years ago which is displayed at the Michael C. Carlos museum at my alma mater Emory University. I look at contracts frequently for clients to make sure that they are not bound by unfavorable terms. Some of those contracts are definitely a tough read. However, after seeing this contract, maybe modern contracts aren’t so bad !

Don’t forget that if somebody signs a written contract, the signer is typically bound by its terms regardless of whether they have actually read it.

People unknowingly do this quite often. If your license or registration is suspended as a result of this common mistake and you thereafter get caught driving, you could be charged with a misdemeanor.

Canceling insurance before you surrender your plates makes it look like you’re driving an uninsured vehicle and can result in a registration or license suspension. Surrender your plates first! https://dmv.ny.gov/registration/how-surrender-return-or-turn-your-plates-dmv

Did you know that there is an automobile presumption in the state of New York that applies to many drugs and weapons? If illegal drugs or weapons are located inside a vehicle (even the trunk) and you or a loved one gets into that vehicle, there is a presumption that you (or loved one) and every other occupant of the vehicle, possesses those illegal drugs or weapons. You can be charged with a crime and convicted based on this presumption. It would be incumbent upon you to rebut the presumption of guilt.

This is just another reason to make sure your family is aware to only accept rides from trusted individuals. For further explanation, read NY Penal Law sections 220.25 and 265.15.
