Every once in a while it's fair that a law firm should share a success story. I thought this one is worth a share.
Last summer we were retained on an Obstruction of Breathing case that stemmed from a bar fight. Our Client had a significant violent prior that he served his time on over 12 years ago. Since then he has been a model citizen, working two jobs and staying out of trouble.
While out on this night a brawl broke out and our Client insisted that he only pulled another patron away from his brother by the waist during the fight The prosecution initially wanted a plea to the charge and for Client to serve 364 days based entirely on the 12 year old prior. This would be devastating, so we went to work.
After filing motions and carefully reviewing video of the incident we were finally able to convince the prosecution that, in fact, Client was not an aggressor and had not grabbed and choked anyone. We were able to get our Client a well deserved dismissal of the charges.
It was a longer road than we expected, but we all worked together to make sure the right results were achieved.
This profession can be a lonely one where most of the successes never get noticed but are often very significant. Thanks for reading this and indulging me today.
