📣 Exciting News for the 2025-2026 VISION House Project! 🏠🔨
When the Technical Education position at Hartford Union High School opened up, the future of the VISION House project could have faced a pause. Instead, something incredible happened — local business A&N Contracting stepped up in a big way.
We are proud to thank A & N Contracting for providing the leadership and talent of Mike Berger to manage the VISION House program and mentor the students hands-on. Mike brings not only years of construction and project management experience, but a personal connection to the program — he was part of the VISION House team back in 2007–2009 during his time as a student at HUHS!
Mike shares:
“Even though we focus on carpentry, this program gives real-life exposure to all trades. It takes commitment and teamwork — but walking away knowing you helped bring someone’s dream to life? That’s something special.”
After serving in the Marine Corps and returning to construction, Mike joined A&N as a Project Manager, and now leads the effort to build the next VISION home alongside our HUHS students.
We also extend our gratitude to HUHS Principal Kelly Lam, who continues to provide essential student support and advocacy to keep this program strong and impactful.
A&N Co-Owners Tony Monfre and Nate Dziatkiewicz say it best:
“We’re passionate about this work because it gives students real-life experience. Many of our former VISION students are now out in the trades — some even working with us today. We’re proud to give back to the Hartford community that’s always supported us.”
🌍 Meanwhile, this program is gaining international recognition. Rotary President and VISION Chair Jim Bohn has been in talks with the Rotary Club of South London, who are inspired by our model and working to replicate it in the UK!
👏 Let’s give a big thank you to A&N Contracting, HUHS, and all our community partners for helping make this year’s VISION House a reality. The future of the trades starts right here in Hartford!
