It is with tremendous sadness that we must announce the passing of Opal Lee Taylor, sister to David Taylor, and beloved friend to each of us. An obituary and finalized arrangements are forthcoming, with services likely to be on Saturday, April 5th. To our friends and clients -

Taylor and Johns, PLLC is now closed. We know there may be some questions about where we are going and what to do if you need information from an old file.

Attorney Whitney Z. Johns was recently appointed Circuit Judge for the 50th Judicial Circuit (Boyle & Mercer County). Due to this appointment, she can no longer practice law. She will keep an office at the Mercer Judicial Center and the Boyle County Courthouse.

Attorney David A. Taylor retired in 2022 (well mostly). You will still see him around town smoking his cigar and occupying benches. Please stop and chat with him when you are able. This will be a hard transition for him, and his clients have been his family.

Attorney Jessica Wilkerson has formed her own law practice - Wilkerson Law PLLC. You can see the types of cases she will be taking at www.wilkerson-law.com and reach her by email at [email protected].

Suni (Ashton) Hernandez went with Whitney. She was hired as her Judicial Support Staff. She will keep an office in both courthouses and continue to provide essential support to Whitney.

Jessica Merrick will be continuing to grow her small business Shooting Star Farm www.shootingstarfarmhouse.com . She will also be working for local attorney Norrie Currens a few days a week.

Taylor and Johns, PLLC will continue to store client files per KBA rules. If you have a question about an old file, you can call 859-734-2423 and leave a message. Someone will be checking messages a couple of times a week. We are hoping 119 Short Street will be housing some new attorneys by this summer.

Thank you for all of the love and support you all have given us through the years. We have loved helping you. For those that spent much time in the office, you know that we had something really unique in terms of our office dynamic. We all loved and supported each other in a way that you don't find in many offices. Our lives wouldn't be the same if it wasn't for each other and for our clients. Closing this chapter of our lives is bittersweet for all of us, but we are all grateful to have been a part of something so special.

2024 Christmas and New Years Holiday Hours:

Monday, December 23-Friday December 27th we will be closed to the public. There may be some limited phone and email availability by staff on Monday December 23rd and Friday December 27th, but there will not be any attorneys available on those days.

We will have normal business hours on Monday December 30th.

We will be closed on December 31st and January 1st to celebrate New Years.

We will resume normal business hours January 2nd.

We hope all of our friends and clients have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Years!

In exciting office news - this orchid was given to us over a decade ago. For all that time, we have watered and tended to its leaves without any indication it would ever bloom. This week it woke up and bloomed, and it is beautiful. There has to be a lesson in there, right?

A day to celebrate the female farmers! One thing you may not know about me is that I work at a law office by day. All female and full of farmers! Between all of us, we farm cattle, sheep, laying hens, flowers, herbs and berries. Also, our newest attorney, has been appointed as the Vice President of Kentucky Women in Agriculture. 👩🏻‍🌾
