While District Court hears misdemeanor criminal cases and felony criminal cases for the purpose of deciding if the case goes to the grand jury, it hears many other types of cases, too. District Court hears probate matters; evictions; small claims; emergency protective orders; Casey’s law; forced hospitalization for mental health patients known as 202A cases; dependency, neglect and abuse cases; and guardianship cases.
I enjoy the fast pace of District Court, but what I really love is the chance to help the people of Harlan through some of the hardest times in their lives.

I took this photo on Oct. 31st, 2021, almost 2 years ago. It's Gabe's Branch, a unique and beautiful location in Harlan County. The photo got me thinking about what makes me unique as a candidate for Harlan District Judge. My uniqueness is shown in my experience. I have appeared in District Court, Monday through Thursday, for almost 10 years. I have spent over a decade in that courtroom, representing those without the ability to represent themselves. I am asking for your vote and that you allow me to continue serving YOU.

Hello, my name is Cynthia Allison and I am asking for YOUR vote as Harlan District Judge.
Over the past several weeks I have enjoyed meeting many of you at local festivals and community events. I have listened to your concerns and questions about the District Judge’s race; to those I haven’t met in person yet, I look forward to seeing you and talking with you. For the residents of Harlan County, please know that I will be a District Judge for ALL of the people of our great county.
