Tis’ the season for SCAMMING…..While this is the season for giving and kindness, it’s also a season where theft abounds. You may receive emails, text messages or telephone calls purportedly from companies that you know and recognize claiming that an order was not delivered and they need more information from you. DO NOT RESPOND. If you actually placed an order that you are concerned about, call the company directly on a trusted number. Be safe, be smart and have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

The latest scam circulating involves receipt of either an email or a text message from a company that is purported to be Amazon or some other company you are familiar with. The notification will advise that an order is being processed for shipping. The price of the item being shipped will usually be significant enough to get your attention, especially considering you did not order the item. Do not respond to the emails or call the number provided in the communication. This is a scam which is an attempt to access personal information about you and/or have you purchase a product fraudulently. One of the items being sold, at a discount to you when you call the number, is alleged to be protection for your computer because your security was obviously breached (according to the scammer ). You will be required to provide access to your computer to the person on the line who will then go in and obtain any information they like while connected to your computer and may even plant a virus or software which allows them to continue to access the contents of your computer or any other device. Once again, these are scams. If you need virus protection or firewall protection you can purchase them through a reputable vendor such as McAfee or Norton.

CORONAVIRUS-19 UPDATE

To all of my clients/friends, your health and safety is my foremost concern during this crisis. As a result of the governor’s recent order I will not be meeting with any clients in person.
