I remember it like it was yesterday. I was a graduate of highschool, and I had already signed up for the Army.
On the day of my departure, my dad came up to me in a very solemn fashion. He stuck his hand out, and said, be careful son.
That was it; but the emotion he expressed was more than the words he said.
I began my military stint wondering what the hell I was getting myself into.
I wouldn't trade my experience for anything. My Father was also a veteran, and while he was proud, he also knew we lived in a dangerous world. After all, Iran was holding Americans captive.
I was too young and too foolish to recognize the danger: but my Father saw it clearly...
