🌧️🌀 STORM ALERT: KNOW YOUR FLOOD RISK, GULF BREEZE!
As Hurricane Isaias approaches, the City of Gulf Breeze is continuing preparations for heavy rainfall and potential flooding, particularly in low-lying neighborhoods and areas with a history of drainage challenges.
📍 CHECK THE FLOOD AWARENESS MAP!
The attached map highlights:
🔴 Areas with a higher estimated frequency of flooding
🟡 Areas with a lower estimated frequency of flooding
💧 Known locations that experience recurring flooding
🚧 Planned locations for portable pumps and other storm response equipment
⚠️ A FEW IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
🚗 TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN! Never drive through flooded roads. Even shallow, moving water can be dangerous.
🏡 PROTECT YOUR PROPERTY. Move vehicles and valuables away from low-lying areas when safe and practical.
🍂 KEEP DRAINS CLEAR. Remove leaves, grass clippings, and yard debris from nearby storm drains and drainage pathways. Never enter floodwater to clear a drain.
🚧 GIVE CREWS ROOM TO WORK. Public Works and emergency response teams may be staging pumps, inspecting drainage systems, and responding to flooding throughout the storm.
📱 STAY INFORMED. Follow the City of Gulf Breeze's official communications for updates as conditions change.
💙 PLEASE REMEMBER: This map is a planning and awareness tool, not a prediction of exactly where flooding will occur. Actual conditions will depend on rainfall intensity, storm duration, drainage conditions, and other factors. Flooding can occur outside the areas highlighted on the map.
City crews will continue monitoring conditions and deploying resources as needed to protect our neighborhoods and maintain critical infrastructure.
Prepare today. Stay alert. Stay safe, Gulf Breeze! 💙
