In a unanimous ruling, the state's highest court said free speech rights were wrongly curtailed by a non-disparagement order forbidding the husband or wife from posting about the divorce on Facebook and other social media sites until their child turned 14.

For any child support payers who are not currently working, who have had a reduction in income, or who are receiving unemployment benefits, it is imperative that you request a modification of your child support obligation in order to preserve your relief. Your child support obligation will not be modified retroactively to the reduction in or loss of your income. On March 23, 2020, Governor Whitmer issued Executive Order 2020-21 (COVID-19) which requires all non-essential workers as defined in the Order to Stay Home Stay Safe for the next three weeks at least. While our physical office may be inaccessible right now, we are “virtually” open, and we will continue to work each and every day to do as much as we possibly can. We are fortunate that we have already operated our firm with technology that allows us to work from a virtual office. We continue to look for creative ways to problem solve, and we are here to help you with your legal needs. You are welcome to call us at our office number, and Trish or Dawn will make sure to get back to you as soon as possible! In order to do our part in supporting our healthcare workers, Haas | Prokopec provided lunch to the ER staff of McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mt. Clemens. We cannot even begin to express our gratitude for the hospital staff (doctors, nurses, and everyone else) who continue to be on the front lines of protecting all of us. We see you, and we thank you!
This was the least that we could do, and we will continue to do as much as we can! Lunch was catered in by Bentley's Roadhouse in Harrison Township, and they are open for carry out! We will continue to do our part in supporting our healthcare workers as well as our local businesses! Stay healthy everyone!

Trish Oleksa Haas spent the day filming a webcast for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education on the subject of family law appeals in order to share her vast knowledge in this area of the law. Trish is a skilled appellate lawyer, and several of her cases have resulted in published opinions.
